Bladder Control

Some women experience problems with bladder control as a result of childbirth or other factors.

Uncontrollable loss of urine is a very common problem and is related to two factors:

  1. Inability to stop the flow of urine with urgency
  2. Loss of urine with coughing, laughing, sneezing, running or exercise in general.

We have the ability to diagnose the problem with a procedure known as a Cystometrogram or CMG.  This instrument allows us to test bladder function.

There are several ways to treat uncontrolled loss of urine and your provider will discuss which suits your situation.

  1. Kaegel Exercises (Squeezing the urethral muscles voluntarily)
  2. Biofeedback
  3. Surgical sling procedure known as a Monarc that can be performed in an outpatient setting.

This is an embarrassing as well as annoying problem and our providers are experienced in diagnosis and treatment of this condition.  Let your provider know if you have this condition so that we may serve your needs better.
