Endometriosis is a condition that results from the growth of uterine glandular cells in places other than the uterine lining.  Common locations for this condition are the ovaries, surface of the uterus and lining tissues of the pelvis,

Endometriosis can cause pelvic pain ranging from mild to severe.  It is also sometimes found in patients who are infertile.

Common symptoms would be very painful periods, painful intercourse with deep penetration or generalized pelvic pain that worsens during a period.

Treatment options for endometriosis include medication, surgery or a combination of both modalities.
