Menopause and Perimenopause
A menopause or perimenopausal evaluation is usually undertaken in response to symptoms a patient is experiencing.
Common issues we deal with in menopausal and perimenopausal women are:
- Abnormal periods (irregular, excessive etc)
- Postmenopausal Bleeding
- Hot flashes
- Mood Swings
- Night Sweats
- Insomnia
- Vaginal dryness
The evaluation can include several tests:
- Blood test(s) for female hormones
- Thyroid evaluation
- Uterine biopsy
- Pelvic ultrasound
- Bone Mineral Density
Treatment is based on severity of symptoms and outcome of the physical exam, labs and/or ultrasound.
SSWC providers will discuss if any treatment is recommended, including non-prescription or prescription medication options and surgery.
