Pelvic Prolapse (Pelvic Support Problems)
The loss of pelvic floor support can result in prolapse of pelvic organs. These include the bladder (cystocele), the rectum (rectocele), the uterus, and the vagina after a hysterectomy. Our physicians are skilled in evaluating and treating these conditions.
Treatment options include:
- Fitting, placement and management of a pessary (device inserted into the vagina to replace prolapsed tissue)
- Surgery to repair cystocele (prolapsed bladder)
- Surgery to repair rectocele (prolapsed rectum)
- Surgery to suspend prolapsed vagina using a technique that does not require an abdominal incision
- Hysterectomy to remove a prolapsed uterus
- Surgery to suspend a prolapsed uterus in patients who want to maintain their fertility
