Childbirth Classes:

  • Pregnancy – normal discomforts and warning signs
  • Nutrition
  • Anatomy
  • Relaxation techniques and comfort measures
  • Stages of Labor
  • Medications
  • Epidural
  • Medical interventions
  • Cesarean section
  • Breastfeeding/bottle feeding 
  • Post-partum recovery
  • Newborn care (basic)
  • Tour of Capital Medical Center Women’s Services Unit

What to bring?

  • Wear comfortable clothing 
  • Two pillows (optional)

 Snacks and drinks are provided for Tuesday classes.  Light lunch provided for Fast-Track.

South Sound Women’s Center has been providing health care for  women in Olympia and the south sound region since 1993. It was a natural progression to add birthing classes for our patients in our continuing effort to provide the best service possible. We know you will take home the most up-to-date information and a better understanding of pregnancy and the birthing process.

Call 360.705.1259 for class dates to accommodate your schedule:

Four-Week Series on Tuesdays from 6 to 8 pm OR
Fast-Track Class 2nd Saturday of the month from 
  9 am to 3 pm + the following Thursday 6 to 8 pm
  (offered every other month)

(Classes that do not have a minimum of
6 couples are subject to re-scheduling.)

Cost: $95

Childbirth classes are a covered benefit with DSHS and Healthy Options.

Excellent prenatal care and a healthy lifestyle, coupled with childbirth and newborn education, provide a wonderful start to the new world of parenting.

 

 

ROBIN STAHLEY

Robin StahleyRobin is a Registered Nurse on staff at South Sound Women’s Center. She has 15 years labor and delivery experience and has taught childbirth education for 8 years. She is married to her husband of 19 years, Keith, and the mother of two teenagers, Nathan and Cayla. Robin is a member of ICEA (International Childbirth Education Association) and is ICCE certified. "I believe that knowledge is empowering and helps reduce the fear of the unfamiliar, which has a positive impact on the birth experience."
