Tubal Ligation
SSWC physicians offer three types of procedures to block the fallopian tubes in women who desire permanent sterilization.
Post Partum Tubal Ligation is performed after vaginal delivery or during a Cesarian Section.
Laparoscopic Tubal Occlusion using cautery or a band and is performed as an outpatient using general anesthesia.
Essure is an office procedure performed using local anesthesia and oral sedation.
Feel free to ask your provider which method would be best for you. If you are pregnant and considering sterilization, please let your physician know so he/she can arrange for this procedure to be done after your baby is born.
If you have a Medical Coupon, a special sterilization consent form must be signed at least 30 days before you are due.
Please select one of the links above to find out more about the specific procedure.
